Language Learning Autobiography Example Write a detailed account of your experience of learning English so far. Start by saying what your native language is and what other languages you know. State the order in which you learned these languages and how well you know each of them. Describe when and where you started learning English, express your feelings about learning English at each stage and provide details of what helped you in your learning, what difficulties and problems you faced and the efforts you made to improve your command over the language. Also explain what influence other people (for example, your parents, teachers, siblings or friends) had on the development of your English and on your confidence in using English. Finally, end with some advice to other students about what they should do to improve their English. I am a Malaysian Chinese girl. I grow up in a small town named as Teluk Intan situated in Perak, Malaysia. My first language is Chinese and I am a fully Chinese-based school educated. Either at home or outside, Chinese is the language I used the most. Besides Chinese, I do learnt English language since during my early childhood and Malay language during my primary school level. Although I do know the other languages, still I prefer to communicate or write in mandarin. I think I have moderated level for all this three language as I am able to express my idea verbally either in written form or spoken form. I started learning my English during my early childhood. At about the age of 3 or 4 years old, by sing nursery rhythms and English poems. I learnt nursery song in the daytime at kindergarten together with some other friends at the same age with me. Hereby, I feel very happy to learnt English. The teacher always use colourful picture and However during night time, I went to a home tuition centre and learn some English together with both my sister who is 3 to 4 years older than me. In the tuition centre, I was the youngest and I feel very shy to talk to them thought they were very nice. Besides that, the teacher also told my parents that I was too small scared that I was not able to catch up. Thus I went for a few classes only. The second stage of my English learning is during my primary school level. Since I studied at Chinese-based primary school, English language is not commonly used though it was being taught in the class. In this stages, I found that English is hard but interesting. It was hard because there are a lots of grammar and rules that I have to follow while writing. However, it is interesting as in English, there are words with the same spelling but different meaning and pronunciation, words with the same pronunciation but different spelling too. Besides that under this stage, I got a very good English teacher when I was in Standard 4 whereby he used many interesting ways to teach us English. I got motivated by the teacher and the prize for the English month quiz. This motivation pushed me until I finished my secondary school. In my secondary school, I was some how like get attracted by English language. I had even join the English language club though it is a very cold club and the teacher adviser seldom do her part guiding us to do the activity. Besides that, this motivation had also pushed me to buy English novel to read. And lastly, I become a royal fans to Rick Riordan. I do even look for every of his books and keep them as precious collection. In this stage thought I have the motivation pushing me to use more English and to love English more; I still had some difficulties and feel like going to give up English. I had such a feeling because of having difficulties in understanding of literature and the way my English teacher taught us English and literature. After Form 5, I was really gave up English language for around seven months. Until I went to Tunku Abdul Rahman College to study Form 6. In the college, I met some classmate who are English educated and cannot speak their mother tongue language. Thereby, I had to use back my English. I though my English is very good, but there, I found out that my English is the worst. All my friends cannot understood what am I going to say either. I was there for about two months and was later get involve in Kirkby International College which I am in now. Yet my English being better here, I was almost gave up as the worst English I was using. However, I was being encouraged by my lecture here to use English language more. Thus, I make my effort to improve my English language. I bought a lots of English books to improve my grammar and vocabulary. Yet, my English improved as I use Manglish a lot and what I would like to say I used to translate it from Mandarin which is my mother language to English. In conclusion, learning a second language is never be difficult. It is all depend on the determination of the person. To learn a better second language, ones need to use the language frequently. Yet, I can say that my English is the best; my English improved a lot since I used it more frequently.

Comparing Islam and Christianity Although they share several basic theological ideas, Christianity and Islam differ on countless key characteristics. The most prominent differences include atonement, the identity of God, heaven, view of Jesus, and the perception of the Christian Bible. It is these not-so-subtle contrasts of thoughts that separate the two most prevalent religions in the world. One of the most important differences in Christianity and Islam is the concept of atonement. In Christianity, Jesus’ death on the cross allows Christians to repent from their sins and gain forgiveness from God. Conversely, in Islam there is no atonement from sins with Allah, though they still repent and confess their sins. While Christians believe that their sincere repentance provides them with a new, clean slate with God, Muslims believe that, despite their repentance, their sins will always be held against them when judged on the final day. These differing views on forgiveness set the tone for each respective religion, with Christianity seen as a forgiving, loving religion, and Islam being viewed as a hard-nosed, action-based religion. Another important difference between Christians and Muslims is their views of God. Despite the fact that Muslims claim Allah is the same as God the Father, Christians deny such claims, citing the fact that they worship the Holy Trinity. Christians follow a triune God, equal parts God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Though each has specific roles and responsibilities, Christians view them as one God. This differs from the Islamic point of view of a singular God, called Allah, holding a similar role as creator and maintainer as God the Father. Interestingly, Muslims apply a similar role ... ...s the Hebrew Messiah, thus finally saving the Jews from their sins. His death on the cross and resurrection provided Christians with the opportunity to be forgiven from their sins and have a chance to live with God for eternity in heaven. While Muslims respect the teachings of Jesus, they view Him only as a great prophet, but not as great as Muhammad. They believe that God replaced Him with Judas on the cross, thus dispelling the Christian belief that His death saved them from their sins. While they are conceptually similar, the major differences between Islamic and Christian theology become obvious upon further inspection. The aforementioned differences, most importantly each religion’s view of Jesus, prevent Muslims and Christians from agreeing on anything theological, and have created a chasm between the two cousin religions currently dominating world theology.

Explore the ways Golding presents the relationship between Goody Pangall and Roger Mason

The opening of the extract reveals that the relationship between the pair may not be mutual, and may appear to Goody to be threatening. This becomes apparent through the way in which her movements are described as being â€Å"brisk† yet â€Å"without much will to go forward†. This provokes the reader to fathom that there is some sort of aggressive energy between the duo, particularly when coupled with the projected image of â€Å"open terror† in her face. This may seem to be Golding's method by which to foreshadow any abusive occurrences yet to come such as rape or violence. However, this whilst it may initially appear to be an abusive situation for Goody is infact quite the opposite as it is later revealed that her timid actions are not due to fear of an aggressor, but due to the â€Å"tent† which is said to be â€Å"feared† by them both. This â€Å"tent† as it is described is an invisible bond between the two, much like the â€Å"rope† which once tethered together Jocelin and Pangall. This bond however, unlike that between the two priests is almost self-enforcing as it confines them with each other and is described as having â€Å"shut them off† from the other characters. As this union between them is said to be â€Å"shut† it implies that the relationship is intended to remain private, which is unsurprising given the ideas and values of the time and their surroundings as it would be deemed strictly improper for this relationship to continue within the sanctity of the cathedral, and in particular is between two married people which even by modern standards is considered a taboo and so bears considerable stigma. The â€Å"tent† forms a palpable enclosure of secrecy in which the pair may act as they wish without being exposed, however the opaque exterior of the â€Å"tent† does not necessarily prevent their discovery as it has no barrier for sound, and under close and suspicious scrutiny becomes transparent, revealing their scandal. The â€Å"fear† expressed by Goody Pangall may also be a sign of guilt as it would be truly shameful for her affair to be unveiled, particularly by her husband. Also, the relationship between the pair is most likely based upon a physical attraction derived from the base instinct, lust. As such, the timing for the emergence of their relationship lends itself willingly to the overall plot as the stench of stagnant water and death emitted by the pit is symbolic of the Freudian id, as it is taken to be the more concealed and inviolable facet of the church due to its disruptive and disconcerting nature. As such, the surfacing of this illegitimate relationship has been timed well as it, like the stench is also likely to disrupt the already crumbling church community. Golding uses many alternative and diverse methods with which to present the affiliation between the couple. In this extract alone, he employs many techniques to present and investigate their association. The first apparent method is that of scrutinising observation from a distance, typically presented through the eyes of Jocelin, in a manner which literally means that the reader sees the world through his eyes. This is almost to be expected as Golding uses Jocelin as the focal point or foundation upon which the rest of the novel's extreme depth and vision is constructed throughout the book. In this manner, the reader is introduced to the affair through the reactions and indignation of Jocelin. Read also Intro to Public Relations Notes However, Jocelin's reactions must be taken with a hint of caution as it is obvious that he personally lusts after her and so is jealous of Pangall and now of Roger as his earlier comments such as â€Å"she is entirely woman† would indicate. However, it may be believed that the relationship is revealed or perhaps foreshadowed prior to the point of this extract as Jocelin forces the images to the back of his mind and so refuses to focus upon their implications, which allows him to evade any in depth thought or interpretation of previous situations which the reader may now link to the affair. Another method which Golding uses to present the relationship is simply that of narrative observation. This is employed towards the climax of the extract as the reader is no longer seeing the world from within Jocelin, but is being shown his reactions to it in order to interpret its meanings and implications. The relationship is clear and obvious in its existence and to Jocelin must have clear meanings as it is stated that â€Å"a strange certainty fell on Jocelin† as he spied upon the pair's private meeting. In a somewhat removed and malignant manner, the climax of the relationship between the pair may prophesise and so foreshadows the end for Jocelin. This is due to the manner in which the death or eventual murder of Goody coupled with the severing of Jocelin from all other members of the church body such as Pangall as the â€Å"rope† which once â€Å"bound† them together has since been â€Å"cut†, even prior to his disappearance. In this manner it seems that all of Jocelin's â€Å"old friends† now scorn or cease contact with him as a result of his blinding ambition. As such, once Goody is no longer alive for Jocelin to lust after and all others have deserted him, the eventual end of his life cannot be far off. Golding therefore uses an intense and diverse array of methods through which to display and enhance every facet of the relationship. As such allowing it to be interpreted and moulded by the reader so that it may be deemed to signify, any meanings ranging from the pedestrian to the fantastic.

Critical Analysis Of The Declaration Of Independence

The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress at Independence Hall in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776. The document announced that the colonies regarded themselves as thirteen newly independent sovereign states no longer under British rule. The writers of the Declaration expressed ideals stating that men are created equal and that all men have basic human rights given to them by God. The purpose of a government, according to the Founding Fathers, was to protect the basic human rights which Jefferson listed as â€Å"life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.† However, the deplorable institution of slavery prospered after America gained its independence.
